Screen Sharing Software

A guide to screen sharing software. Compare prices on screen sharing software from Adobe and Skype.
At Software.com we are always on the lookout for new types of software to carry. One function we love, need and use but are frustrated with is screen sharing software. We currently use Skype. The simplicity of its screen sharing function (one click from within a call or video call) and its tremendous popularity (though admittedly it is a lot bigger outside of the US than within the US) mean that Skype would be the ideal solution.
But it's not. Unfortunately it freezes a lot and doesn't make the connection. It may be to do with speed quality at the other end of the line (we use a lot of remote staff in, well, remote places) but either way it is painful when you are trying to train someone and can't get far past first base. Techcrunch had an article about screen sharing with Skype and didn't mention the freezing issues, so maybe it is a distance issue.
If you're after a reliable screen sharing software you could try Adobe Acrobat. Here's a little screen sharing video from Acrobat.com. Our first issue with it is that to conduct a meeting one needs to share a link to the meeting. It could be a permanent link that you can use, we'll find out soon. Another option is Webex, a very popular meeting and collaboration software. We're going to try them all out and get back with an update. Tinychat is another one but at first glance there seems to be some questionable profile pics.
