Tax Cut 2010 Compared: H&R Block Versus TurboTax Software For 2010
19 May
H&R Block and TurboTax are the two biggest tax software companies around. Here we look at what is different between their 2010 tax software.
Recently, Tax Cut has taken on a new name. Instead of Tax Cut 2010, or any later version, it is now known as H&R at Home. Although the name has changed, there are still several products you can rely on to file your federal and state income tax returns.
As you know, H&R Block and TurboTax are the two biggest tax software companies in the industry. As a taxpayer, deciding which company to use to file your return can be a difficult task. Although there are some similarities, there will always be differences that set apart H&R Block and TurboTax software particularly when it comes to business tax and software costs.
Is H&R Block or TurboTax Better For Business Returns?
Although both companies offer business tax help, TurboTax is at the top of the industry in this area. Simply put, TurboTax Business is only for business owners. H&R Block lacks a highly targeted product.
Instead, they only offer H&R Block At Home Premium & Business. While this program has most of the features you have come to expect, you may get the feeling that it does not focus nearly as much on the business side of things.
Which Software Costs Less: H&R Block or TurboTax?
Generally speaking, TurboTax products are priced more competitively. For example, TurboTax Deluxe Federal can be had for less than $30. A comparable product from H&R Block is their Home Deluxe program – this will set you back roughly $50.
One advantage with H&R Block, however, is that it is known to offer free software trials – this is something that TurboTax does not currently offer for premium software. So, if you want to test run a program before using it you should definitely turn to H&R Block.
You cannot go wrong when you choose any program from H&R Block or TurboTax. But remember, there are differences that set these two companies apart and knowing what they are will make sure you get tax software to suit all your needs.
